Description
When a plastic pipe passes through a fire-rated wall or floor, it melts in a fire and leaves an open hole. A fire collar fitted around the pipe contains an intumescent material that expands in the heat, crushes the softening pipe and seals the opening.
Collars are needed on PVC, CPVC and PE drainage and service pipes that cross compartment walls and floors.

Common questions
Why do plastic pipes need collars?
Plastic pipe melts in a fire and leaves an open hole. The collar crushes the pipe and seals the hole.
Which pipes can it be used on?
PVC, CPVC and PE pipes, sized to the pipe's diameter.
Does a metal pipe need a collar?
No. Metal pipes are usually sealed with fire rated sealant.
