Description
A battery charge controller keeps standby batteries fully charged and ready, without overcharging them. In a fire pump room it maintains the diesel engine's starting batteries; it is also used for alarm and control panel backup batteries.
It charges automatically from the mains, switches to a float charge once the battery is full, and protects against short circuits and wrongly connected leads. Healthy batteries are what let a diesel fire pump start when it is needed.
Key features
- 220 to 240 V AC input
- 12 V or 24 V DC output
- Automatic boost and float charging
- Overcharge, short circuit and reverse polarity protection
- Panel mounted
Applications
- Diesel fire pump starting batteries
- Fire alarm and control panel backup
- Standby power systems
Before you order
Tell us the battery voltage (12 V or 24 V), the type and the capacity, and what it serves: diesel fire pump starting batteries, a control panel or another standby system. For a fire pump, send the pump controller's make and model.
Installation and care
Mount the controller in the panel or near the batteries, with good ventilation. Check the charging voltage and the battery condition during routine maintenance, because weak starting batteries are a common reason diesel fire pumps fail to start.
Common questions
What does a float charge do?
Once the battery is full, the controller holds it at a lower voltage that keeps it full without overcharging.
Why does a diesel fire pump need a charger?
Its engine starts from batteries. The charger keeps them full, so the pump can start when it is needed.
Can it charge 24 V batteries?
Yes. Models are available for 12 V or 24 V DC output.
Specifications vary by model and manufacturer. We confirm the exact model, rating, price and delivery charge in your written quotation.
