Description
A pressure relief valve opens automatically when the pressure in a system rises above its set point and closes again when it falls. It protects pipes, fittings and sprinklers from damage when a pump runs against a closed system or its pressure rises too high.
On fire pump installations, relief valves are fitted to diesel pump deliveries and wherever the pump's shut-off pressure could exceed the rating of the system.
