Description
A waste cone is an open funnel that collects water discharged from relief valves, test valves and drains, and carries it to the drain. Because it is open, anyone in the pump room can see when a relief valve is discharging.
NFPA 20 requires the discharge from a fire pump's main relief valve to be visible, which is what the waste cone provides.
