Description
An input module connects equipment that is not a detector to the fire alarm system. It watches a contact, such as a sprinkler flow switch, a valve tamper switch or a fire pump running signal, and reports its state to the panel.
That lets the panel show exactly which valve has been closed or which pump is running, and include those events in the building's alarm and log.
Key features
- Monitors a volt-free contact
- Real-time reporting to the panel
- 24 V DC operation
- Noise-resistant design for industrial sites
- Panel or back-box mounting
Applications
- Sprinkler flow and tamper switches
- Fire pump status signals
- Gas suppression and door status monitoring
Before you order
Input modules are made for one panel family, so tell us the fire alarm panel's brand and model. Also list what each module will watch: sprinkler flow switches, valve tamper switches, fire pump running or fault signals, or a gas suppression panel. One module is usually needed for each signal.
Installation and care
Fit the module close to the equipment it watches, in a back box or inside a panel, and wire the contact as the maker shows, including the end-of-line device that lets the panel spot a broken wire. Program it at the panel with a clear name, such as "Level 3 sprinkler flow". Test it by operating the switch it watches.
Common questions
What is the difference between an input and an output module?
An input module tells the panel that something has happened, such as water flowing. An output module lets the panel switch something, such as shutting down a fan.
Can one module watch two switches?
Some models have more than one input. Tell us how many signals you need at each location, and we quote the right modules.
Do I need input modules on a conventional system?
No. Input modules are used in addressable systems. In a conventional system, switches are wired to a zone instead.
Specifications vary by model and manufacturer. We confirm the exact model, rating, price and delivery charge in your written quotation.
