Description
A fire stretcher lets a rescue team carry an injured or unconscious person out of a building quickly and safely. It folds for storage on a wall at the fire point and opens in seconds.

Choosing and storing it
A folding stretcher is the practical choice for factories and high-rise buildings, because it stores flat on a wall and is light enough to carry down stairs. Keep at least one at each fire point or first aid station, where the fire team can reach it quickly.
Using it safely
Carry with two or four people, depending on the person's weight and the route. Fasten the straps before lifting, lift with your legs, and carry the person feet first down stairs. Practise with the stretcher during fire drills, so the team knows how to open and carry it.
