Description
The alarm check valve sits at the base of a wet pipe sprinkler system. It holds the water in the system, prevents backflow into the supply, and when a sprinkler opens it lets water through to the alarm line, sounding the water motor gong and operating the pressure switch.
The valve set includes gauges, a drain and a test valve, so the system can be tested and drained without disturbing the rest of the installation.

Installation and care
The valve set is installed at the base of the sprinkler riser, in a place the fire service can reach. Test the alarm regularly with the test valve, check the gauges, and keep the main valve locked open.

What does the retarding chamber do?
It holds back short surges of water, so a pressure change in the supply does not set off a false alarm.
How is the alarm tested?
By opening the test valve, which lets water flow through the alarm line to sound the gong and operate the pressure switch.
