Description
An air release valve lets trapped air escape from high points in a water pipeline. Air pockets reduce the flow, cause noisy water hammer, and can stop water reaching the far end of a fire main quickly.
The valve works on its own: a float inside opens to vent air and closes when water reaches it. On fire systems, air release valves are fitted at the top of risers and on the pump delivery.

Before you order

Installation and care
Fit the valve at the high points of the pipework, such as the top of each riser and on the pump delivery, with an isolating valve below it for maintenance. Check that it vents and does not leak.
