Description
A foam chamber is fitted to the top of the shell of a fuel storage tank. In a fire, it expands the foam solution and pours it gently onto the fuel surface inside the tank, where it spreads to cover the burning liquid.
A frangible vapour seal keeps fuel vapour out of the foam line until the system operates.

Installation and care
Chambers are fitted to the top of the tank's shell and connected to the foam solution line. Inspect the vapour seal, deflector and pipework during routine maintenance, and replace a seal that is damaged.
