Description
An OS & Y (outside screw and yoke) gate valve isolates sections of a fire main or sprinkler system. Its stem rises as the valve opens, so anyone can see at a glance whether it is open, which is why fire codes require this type on fire water lines.
The screw thread sits outside the water, so it does not corrode and the valve stays easy to operate for years. Tamper switches can be fitted to report to the fire alarm panel if the valve is closed.
