You can find two fire extinguishers of the same size with very different prices in Bangladesh. The cheap one is not always a bargain, and the expensive one is not always better. Here is what really changes the price.

1. Type

2. Size
A bigger extinguisher holds more powder or gas and costs more. Common sizes are 1 kg, 2 kg, 4 kg, 5 kg, 6 kg and 9 kg. Buying one big unit instead of two small ones is not always cheaper, because the small ones may cover the floor better.
3. Brand and certificates
Extinguishers tested and listed by bodies like UL, or made to standards like EN 3, cost more. The testing checks that the unit sprays for long enough, reaches far enough and does not burst. For factories that face buyer audits, certified units are often required.
4. Build quality
Look at the cylinder, the valve, the pressure gauge and the hose. A thin cylinder or a plastic valve lowers the price but also lowers the life. Check that the gauge needle is in the green area when you buy.

5. Refill and service cost
