Description
A flexible joint lets a pipe move slightly without passing stress to the equipment it is connected to. It absorbs pump vibration, thermal expansion and small misalignments, and it reduces the noise carried along the pipework.
In a fire pump room it is fitted at the pump suction and delivery, and it is also used where pipes cross building expansion joints.

Installation and care
Fit joints at the pump suction and delivery, with the pipework supported on both sides so the joint does not carry its weight. Check rubber joints for cracks and bulging during maintenance.
